Nago Sushi & Sake, located in Krakow’s center has in short order climbed to the very top of the culinary rungs of this town. This is indeed a class act, where in its quiet elegance it mesmerizes with ethereal flavors of Japanese cuisine, only possible when there is an unbending focus on quality. The word Nago sounds Japanese, but is actually Polish and means “naked”—reflective of the philosophy here which is to lay bare the beauty of pure natural flavors, without additives and unembellished. The only tools the Sushi masters have here do their craft are the freshest of fish and seafood, spring water fed Japanese rice of the noblest varieties, and local farm-fresh vegetables. There is sake of course, to be sipped ceremoniously; to celebrate both what’s on the plate and the moment. And finally the unique desserts, a true exclamation point to what is possibly the best Japanese one has ever had!
