The History of Polish Jews
POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews offers a profound journey through 1000 years of Jewish life in Poland. Located next to an extensive green area, and to the Monument to the Ghetto Heroes, this is both a cultural landmark as well as a place of reflection. Opened in 2014, on the site of the former Warsaw Ghetto, it houses an award-winning Core Exhibition which traces a vibrant culture shaped by coexistence, tragedy, and renewal. The Core Exhibition consists of galleries available for viewing with multilingual guides; highlights include a dazzling reconstruction of the 18th-century Gwoździec synagogue roof. The minimalist glass exterior of the Museum building, designed by the Finnish studio Lahdelma & Mahlamäki, gives way to a dramatic, light-filled interior of curved forms and symbolic space. The Museum’s WARSZE Bistro serves modern takes on traditional dishes from Polish-Jewish cuisine. POLIN is indeed a must-see place on Warsaw’s cultural map!
