Restaurant Szara, located in the Main Square, is considered a landmark venue by those who seek class and consistency. In 2024 it received Michelin’s coveted recommendation. Housed in a splendid 14th century building, its gothic arched interiors and decorated ceilings convey a regal sensibility. Chef Pawel Puchalski’s menu, best described as international and European with significant Scandinavian features, is well-loved by a clientele that converges in Krakow from all over the globe. The Swedish style marinated herrings are an ideal prologue to dishes such as the Plankstek; this is beef sirloin served on an oak plank with pommes duchesse and yellow string beans wrapped in bacon. Desserts such as the chocolate mousse with lime cake and citrus sauce delightfully complete the gastronomic equation. A welcoming, attentive, and informed staff advise guests on the choice of wines, as well as ensuring that their every need is happily met. And breakfast is served daily at the adjacent Szara Bar from 9 am until 12 noon. A true class act!
